Dresses for the 12 months of the year

This nymph is first born by the face... in the Villa Il Palmerino in Florence, where I was in residence during the pandemic. I had to cross the garden to get to the studio. This very large garden is rich in species. I was captivated by the variety of forms. They were so numerous and so perfect that I couldn’t draw them all. On the way to the atelier, every morning I did my morning shopping, picking leaves and flowers then experimented cyanotype: I laid these leaves on the prepared paper and exposed them to the sun. Keeping their imprint was the best way for me to pay tribute to them.

To save the climate, I thought we should first get nature into our heads... So I associated these leaves with the profile of a female face, neutral and played with it. As the nymph personifies various aspects of nature, this face profile was called "Palmerino’s nymph", a carefree being, singing, spinning, strolling through the garden.

Cyanotype is blue, a beautiful deep blue. Some of the prints may be sufficient, but for others, I added color by dressing the faces with a painterly gesture, because that wasn’t enough for me, and so I naturally made dresses for them.
The Palmerino nymph has dresses for every occasion, starting with the seasons...
And then, one thing leading to another, far from Palmerino, the nymph created a dress for each month of the year
